Let Black Girls be Girls went live on August 26th with 234 billboards across London, Birmingham, Bristol & Manchester in partnership with the incredible creative street advertising specialists BUILDHOLLYWOOD.

The billboard campaign juxtaposes this message with positive portrayals of Black girlhood that highlight the innocence and vulnerability Black girls are usually not afforded due to Adultification Bias, as well as the widespread misrepresentation of Black girls in the media. The campaign enlisted Black British female photographers Aicha Thomas and Jade Reynolds-Hemmings to transform the perception of Black British girlhood through visual storytelling.

The Adultification of Black girls has a lasting impact on how we show up in the world, and it was very important for us to platform this issue that is not spoken about enough and use our creative expression to do that in the best way we know how. We’re so happy that it’s resonating with people in and out of the community, because this is for everyone to consider when it comes to their interactions with young Black girls. #LetBlackGirls 🤎
