The aim of the letter is to let young Black girls know that they aren’t alone. It’s about sharing an experience that’s unfortunately been multi generational for many but one that may be relatable and can offer comfort and guidance.
Some prompts below; but feel free to write from wherever feels relevant and true for you.
1. Tell us about an experience when you were adultified; What happened? (how old were you?, who, where i.e school, home, outside, family)
2. What would you advise young black girls today who may be experiencing adultification?
3. If you don’t have an experience with adultifiation then just words of encouragement for young Black girls and/or your experience as a Black girl and what that means to you now as a Black woman.
Please note we will not be publishing names on the website (unless you want your name displayed) but instead will use initials as a default, if you do not want your initials used please just say and we’ll put it as anon.
