To support media, agencies and brands in more accurately representing Black girls, with this firstâofâitsâkind visual guidelines for marketers and creatives on how to choose and create visuals that accurately represent Black British girls.

Having received such a strong reception to the Let Black Girls be Girls billboards, we hit the streets to speak to the people. We discussed the messaging, their thoughts and feelings along with their own experiences and awareness of Adultification Bias and its impact on Black girls.

Keep talking until someone listens
I would encourage young black girls to try and keep talking until someone listens, because someone eventually will.

What is Adultification Bias?
Did you know that Adultification Bias is when adults perceive children from ethnic minority backgrounds as being older or more mature than they are?

Adultification as a child is so hard to identify
â I think adultification as a child is so hard to identify especially when you are in the moment. It can often be identified when you become an adult.

I had to step up on different occasions
In the aspects you can control, try to be as childlike as you can as youâre a child for 18 years then after that itâs the real real adulting.

I was given a key to my house in year 4
Even if you do know what to do, still remind them that you are not an adult.
